G-HUEY at North Weald Airfield 02/08/14
On the 2nd of August 2014 I decided to spend a few hours at North Weald Airfield in Essex, the weather was lovely, blue skies all around & nice and warm too. My visit turned out to be pretty quiet, fortunately, there was one unexpected highlight, which was the departure of G-HUEY, the Bell UH-1H Iroquois, piloted by Mark Fitzgerald, who is also part of the Gnat Display Team. The aircraft was off to display at Damyns Hall. G-HUEY was sitting outside it's hangar, with its rotors tied down. I took a few static shots & then I was informed by the engineers that it was shortly to depart, result!! :-) I was fortunate to be very close when G-HUEY departed, what a sight and with that incredible sound track! I must admit I'm surprised you don't see her very often at air shows.
Also flying a short while later was BAC Jet Provost T.5, G-BWOF, that was it for my visit.
